Drone Impact Electronic Warfare Guide
Jamming, power, fuel, and the soft-kill war behind every FPV dive.
Electronic warfare (EW) is the invisible tug-of-war in Drone Impact. Defenders jam attacker links to spoil FPV dives; attackers smash the power and fuel that keep jammers honest. If you only think in guns and explosions, you will misread half the match. This guide explains both perspectives and links out to the role pages that execute the plan.
What EW does in-game
In fiction terms, EW floods or disrupts the control/video link that FPV pilots need for fine terminal control. In gameplay terms, expect some mix of:
- Harder piloting near active jam coverage
- Spoiled dives that would otherwise thread AA
- Pressure that forces attackers to spend missiles or soft infrastructure first
Exact UI meters vary by patch — watch for status text, audio cues, or tool indicators rather than invented range numbers. Activation binds belong in settings; see Controls.
EW is a soft-kill layer. It buys time for machine guns; it does not delete the need to aim (Defender Guide).
Defender perspective — keep the bubble alive
Coverage discipline
- Know which jammer tools or stations your squad owns.
- Turn jam on when a dive commits, not as a panic after the boom.
- Avoid burning attention on empty sky while generators melt behind you.
Power and fuel babysitting
Attackers are taught — correctly — to hit energy logistics. Assign a defender to:
- Watch generator / fuel health.
- Contest repair space after chip damage.
- Call “EW weak” the instant coverage drops.
When the grid is healthy, gunners can take cleaner leads. When it is not, everyone must play tighter angles and expect braver FPV (FPV Drones).
Defense mode caveat
During ~75-UAV Defense waves, jammer uptime still matters, but so does attention split. Do not stare at the EW tablet while a human FPV flanks the fuel tank. Swarm filter roles are covered in the Defender Guide.
Loadout synergy
Pair EW access with a gun you can actually track. Rankings for kits live on Defender Loadouts. Thermal helps you see repair and prop outlines; it is not a jammer.
Attacker perspective — turn the lights off
Why power/fuel first
Healthy EW makes hero dives expensive. Softing the grid:
- Improves later FPV success rates
- Forces defenders to leave AA roofs for repairs
- Creates windows for missiles to punish movers (Missiles & Rockets)
This is the spine of the Attacker Guide loop: scout → soft → strike → reset.
How to soft without feeding
- Use a missile to move roof AAs before the soft FPV.
- Approach generators from non-habit vectors (Maps).
- Abort if jam spikes and guns are pre-aimed — a dead soft pilot helps no one.
- Confirm the jammer actually weakened before celebrating cosmetic wall damage.
After the soft
Communicate. “Fuel down — push EW side” is worth more than three silent FPV suicides. Second pilots should arrive on a different angle while defenders rotate to repair.
Reading the duel mid-match
| Signal | Likely meaning | Response |
|---|---|---|
| FPV suddenly wobbles near base | EW online | Attackers soft grid; defenders hold jam + guns |
| Defenders sprint off roof to a shed | Repair priority | Attackers punish repair; defenders need flex cover |
| Multiple clean FPV finishes | EW likely down or mispositioned | Defenders reset power/fuel immediately |
| Missiles land, FPV still fails | Guns strong, or soft incomplete | Re-check generator health before more drones |
Team coordination templates
Defenders
- “EW up north — guns free south.”
- “Fuel chipped — need flex.”
- “Jam down! Eyes on berms.”
Attackers
- “Softing power — hold FPV.”
- “Grid smoking — all in west.”
- “EW back — reset, missile first.”
Silence favors whoever already understands this page.
Map impact
Open layouts like Abandoned Fields make generator approaches readable — defenders see soft attempts early, attackers get long missile freelines. Denser maps hide soft FPV longer but complicate repair routes. Vote with your EW plan in mind (Maps).
Common EW mistakes
Defenders
- Treating jam as optional flavor
- Ignoring fuel damage during swarm hypnosis
- Activating EW with nobody on guns
Attackers
- Diving full jam “for content”
- Softing the wrong decorative building
- Never verifying whether EW actually dropped
Practice drills
- Play one match as dedicated grid guard — no chase kills.
- Play one match as dedicated soft attacker — only power/fuel until coverage breaks.
- Review a death: was EW up? If unknown, you were flying blind.
- Cross-read Getting Started so new teammates learn the same vocabulary.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Attackers, Defenders, and new pilots.
What is EW in Drone Impact?
Electronic warfare is the defender jamming layer that disrupts attacker FPV control near coverage. It works best when power and fuel infrastructure stay online.
Why do attackers hit power and fuel?
Those systems sustain jammers. Softing them makes later FPV and missile pressure far more effective than diving into healthy EW every life.
Does EW replace guns for defenders?
No. Jamming buys time and spoils terminal control. Machine guns still delete drones — pair both as taught in the Defender Guide.
How do I activate jamming?
Equip the EW tool or use the station interaction, then press the use/fire bind shown in-game. Confirm the exact key in settings via the Controls guide.
What should I read next?
Attackers should continue with Attacker Guide and FPV Drones. Defenders should continue with Defender Guide and Defender Loadouts.
